One of Jenny's favorite Saturday morning activities - local farmer's market. The first one of the season should be on the Saturday of our wedding, so recommend stopping by between 8am-12pm, especially if you're staying near the downtown mall!
Take a walk around UVA grounds to see where it all began - recommend picking up some Bodos bagels for breakfast and taking it over to the Lawn to enjoy on the steps of the rotunda. Go Wahoos!
No, Charlottesville is not Napa Valley...but it does have quite the reputation as one of the best wine country regions on the East Coast! Take a look at the recommendations in the article linked below to get a feel for the different options, but for some of our personal favorites: Valley Road, King Family, & Pippin Hill are all amazing!
It wouldn't be a Jack & Jenny recommendation page without some sort of hike thrown in. Humpback rock is a quick 1 mile out and back hike located ~35 minute drive from downtown. Plan to stop by Blue Mountain Brewery on your way back into town for lunch!
For being such a small city, Charlottesville has a surprisingly impressive food scene, so definitely recommend hitting some of the places included in the Eater list below! Some of our personal favorites: Coffee: Shenandoah Coffee Roasters, Mudhouse, Grit Coffee Breakfast: Bodos Bagels, Ivy Provisions, MarieBette Cafe (bakery) Lunch: Feast!, Belair Market sandwiches, Take it Away, Citizen Burger, Dairy Market (food hall) Dinner: Mas (Spanish tapas), Tavola (fancy Italian), The Local, Oakhart Social, Alley Light (French, great cocktails), Ten (sushi)...and many more!
A few options for nighttime fun (and what to avoid depending on what you're looking for) The Corner (aka the *college bars*): The Virginian, Crozet Pizza, The Biltmore, Boylan Heights Downtown: Alley Light, The Lost Saint, Whiskey Jar, Jack Browns, Miller's, Crush Pad Wine (wine bar)
