1968 to 2018…you could say we are celebrating 50 years of knowing each other. We met in Junior High; Jack was always shy and hanging out with the cool athletic types. I was always figuring a way to miss school and go skiing with my Dad and brother Craig. Jack drove a Ford Falcon and was reserved, quiet and somewhat shy. I was busy organizing ski buses (signing up anyone who would go, which included Jack and his friends). Somehow skiing has always provided a connection between us. Even though we never dated in Junior or Senior High School, we were friends during those years. Jack even wrote inside the front cover of my senior yearbook, “Jeanne, I remember at Carmody (Junior High) when I had the biggest crush on you. Well, things haven’t changed since then. I will always remember you. Maybe someday we can do something together?! Love, Jack”. He still can’t believe he wrote this, but it is undeniably his handwriting. After High School, we both went our separate ways and our paths never crossed. But in 2006, I moved back to the front range after living on the Western Slope for 20 years. At that time, both Jack and I were on our own and wondering what was next in life. A neighborhood friend sent out an email to all that “Jeanne was back”. Jack followed up immediately asking if I wanted to go skiing; which I accepted without hesitation. Ever since then we have been inseparable. A few changes have happened in the last 13 years since we’ve got together. Jack did have to get a passport and agree to dance. But otherwise, life has been good and we are happy to be on this journey together. To those who are reading this, we thank you for taking the time to join in our celebration. October 26th will be an important day in our lives, and we are happy that you have chosen to share this day with us.
