In the fall of 2014, Jack and Holly were in the same religion class at Dowling. To complete a crossword puzzle, students were instructed to pull a stick from a cup to find their randomized partner. Jack found his stick to read “Cyclones” and Holly’s read “Hawkeyes”. In this moment, their story began. Jack and Holly had been secretly crushing on each other for weeks prior. When the two realized they were partners, their cheeks started to blush and the butterflies sunk in. It was only a couple weeks until the two became boyfriend and girlfriend. They experienced all that highschool had to offer together. They attended almost all of each other’s sporting events, went to 6 dances together, and Jack tutored Holly through Algebra Two. (Ha!) After graduation both Holly and Jack attended Iowa State University. Jack went for engineering and Holly for elementary education. Moving away from family and to an unfamiliar town was daunting but knowing they had each other made this transition much easier. Jack and Holly both joined Greek life at Iowa State. Together, they made countless memories and friends throughout these four years. During college, both Holly and Jack lost multiple family members. They learned to lean on one another more than ever during these challenging times. After graduation both Jack and Holly moved to Des Moines. Jack secured a construction engineering job and Holly a job as a 1st grade teacher. As you can imagine, Holly and Jack had known they wanted to be husband and wife for quite some time. After over 8 years of being boyfriend and girlfriend, the two became fiancés on December 9th, 2024. Holly and Jack will become husband and wife on June 7th, 2025 surrounded by all their favorite people. They can’t wait to see where this love story takes them next!
