The Proposal

11.6.2021

His Perspective: I wasn't as nervous as I was excited the week leading up to the proposal. That is until I woke up at 4 am and realized that I was finally going to ask the girl I've been in love with since High School to marry me. I started praying and in tears felt inspired to write her a letter. Later I picked her up for a "routine" breakfast date at Nudy's cafe followed by adoration that was "her" idea. Little did she know that prayer time was meant to prepare me for the most important question I will ever ask and allow my brother to set up a picnic in the prayer garden. After time there I took her hand and brought her in front of Mary where I began to pray out loud. At some point I got down on one knee and asked her to marry me. I couldn't have been happier to have that picnic followed by a special engagement mass with our parents. God has been so good to us down to the last detail of time and place of our engagement. Her Perspective: The day began with a date a Nudy's Cafe. Due to the restaurant hours, 7 am dates at Nudy's became a weekly occurrence for us. We were able to stop there after 6:30 mass for coffee, eggs, and toast before work. It was a quick date but we began to treasure this time in the mornings together before the business of the day. On the morning of the proposal, Jack and I were looking forward to having more than just 30 minutes to talk and spend time together. After a long slow breakfast, we headed off to Saint Isaac Jogues to pray. This is another spot of ours where we have been going since we met in high school. Behind the chapel on the property, there is a large prayer garden. Jack walked me outside in front of the Mary statue where he began to pray. Before I knew it, Jack was down on one knee and looked up into my eyes, holding a ring in his hand, he asked me to be his wife. With the biggest smile on my face, I cried out, "Yes!"
