we're getting married!

Deanna and Jack met by joining the same club at Southern Connecticut State University! In their sophomore year, they both signed up with the Campus Ministry to go on a mission trip to New Orleans, Louisiana during spring break. In New Orleans they were paired together to rebuild a home that was damaged in Hurricane Katrina. Jack and Deanna spent a week installing windowsills and applying joint compound (so romantic!). Not long after they began dating and the rest is history!

For Memorial Day Weekend last year, Jack came home from The Basic School in Quantico, Virginia, so he and Deanna planned to spend some time at Deanna's family beach cottage in Old Lyme. After church Sunday morning, Deanna and Jack packed up chairs, snacks, and books to bring to the beach for the morning (their families had planned a picnic for the afternoon). When they got to the beach, Jack put the stuff to the side and got down on one knee! Little did Deanna know that their families were in on the surprise! The "picnic" planned for later that day was actually an engagement celebration and Deanna's sister Natalie was hidden nearby capturing the moment. Deanna and Jack will always remember that day as being full of love!
