Between the two of them, Cameryn and Jack have helped plan countless fundraising galas - but this is the first and thankfully the only wedding they will ever plan. Their story began the old-fashioned way: through work. Cameryn works for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and Jack works for AES, a vendor providing the auction & check-in technology for many St. Jude galas. Since 2021, their paths have crossed at events across the country, but it wasn’t until one particular night in Las Vegas that things really began. At the St. Jude Super Bowl event at Caesars Palace, Cam and Jack reconnected. They spent time together that evening, laughed a lot, and went their separate ways back to their corners of the world—Cam in Southern California and Jack in Colorado. A few weeks later, Jack made a bold (and perhaps slightly premature) move and asked Cam to be his Valentine. Cam’s response? Silence. Completely fair. They met again the following month at another event in Palm Springs. At that point Cameryn was still unsure about Jack—which, again, was totally fair. But they shared a few drinks, caught up, and reconnected as friends. Jack knew Cam had a future work trip planned to Colorado, so he offered to pick her up from the airport and show her around. When that April trip arrived, the plan worked perfectly—because Jack quietly turned the outing into a date. From there, Jack began planning what looked like an impressive number of “work reconnaissance trips” to California as he explored a possible work promotion on the West Coast. While some of those trips were technically work-related, the real motivation was simple: spending more time with Cameryn. Cam was slowly falling for Jack. She decided to make another trip to Colorado, this time not for work, where she met Jack’s friends and family. They spent the weekend exploring—seeing a show at Red Rocks, wandering around Morrison, relaxing by the river, and bar-hopping downtown. It was a pretty great preview of what life together could look like. Not long after, Jack took a leap of faith and moved to Long Beach, California—conveniently for both “work” and for Cam. He rented a tiny 500-square-foot studio apartment on Orange Avenue, just one block from the ocean, tucked behind an alley. That alley turned out to be important. A scrappy orange stray cat started appearing on Jack’s porch. Jack began leaving water and food for the little guy, who slowly started coming around more often. One evening while Cam was visiting, the orange cat returned. Jack stepped into the bathroom for a moment—and Cam opened the door to let him inside. From that moment on, he was theirs. Despite a few health issues and some expensive vet visits, the skinny alley cat soon transformed into the very healthy (and very spoiled) orange cat they now know as Dennis the Menace. Just like that, their little family was formed. Since then, Cam and Jack have built a life together in Long Beach. They spend their time exploring the city, cooking at home, trying new things, and taking favorite trips to places like Kauai, San Diego, and Monterey. They both work from home, love what they do, and proudly consider themselves the St. Jude/AES power couple. After years of love, adventures, and building a life together, Jack proposed to Cameryn in San Diego at the historic Hotel del Coronado—on Orange Street, no less. A fitting coincidence for a couple whose story includes an apartment on Orange Ave and a certain orange cat who walked right into their lives. Now Cameryn and Jack are thrilled to celebrate the next chapter of their story with all of you on August 21, 2026, in Long Beach, California!
