Bella and Jack’s story began on a serendipitous day in Chicago back in July 2015 at an Erykah Badu concert. Bella was about to leave for grad school to study public health. When she shared this with Jack, his interest was piqued as he studied organic chemistry. Bella caught wind of his interest and told him that, yes, of course she would be studying organic chemistry in public health school and yes, she definitely needed a tutor (narrator: there is no organic chemistry in public health school). Bella achieved her goal of getting Jack’s number: mission, accomplished. Bella ventured to Atlanta for grad school, and Jack ensured their paths crossed again during Thanksgiving back home. At a “classy” Chicago bar called AliveOne, Jack made his move, leaving Bella unable to shake thoughts of him for the rest of the year. Summer whisked Bella away to India, but their connection persisted through heartfelt emails signed "Sincerely, John" – a touch of endearment that Bella found charming once she learned that John is his given name. India had its twists and turns, prompting Bella's early return home, where Jack, ever the gentleman, greeted her with flowers in hand, solidifying their bond. Together, they savored a blissful summer in Chicago until, on August 16, 2016, amidst a Yo-Yo Ma concert at Ravinia, Jack finally mustered the courage to make their love official. Despite the trials of long-distance love in their first year, their bond deepened. Both graduated, and Bella returned to Chicago, where they soon moved in together. In 2019, Oliver joined their journey, expanding them into a dynamic trio and filling their lives with joy. In 2021, Jack's acceptance to UC Santa Cruz for his Ph.D. beckoned a new adventure, and Bella, taking a leap of faith, joined him. Their journey led them to California, where on October 14, 2023, amidst the tranquil beauty of a Lake Tahoe hike, Jack proposed. Now, as they embark on the next chapter of their lives, Bella and Jack eagerly anticipate celebrating their love and embracing the future together.
