For those who don’t know, we met in the most unexpected way—playing Spikeball at Liberty. He walked up and asked me to be his partner for a game, and what was supposed to be a quick match turned into over three hours of playing, laughing, and getting a little too competitive. Somewhere between the serves and high-fives, we discovered that we both played ice hockey, and from that moment on, we just clicked. It’s funny how a random game turned into something so much more, but we’ve been inseparable ever since.
The night was clear, the stars brighter than usual. There was something peaceful about the quiet moments between our conversations, as if the world around us had paused. We’d been stargazing for a while, pointing out constellations and sharing sweet stories. I glanced over and he was smiling but nervous. After a small pause, he simply asked, “Will you be my girlfriend?” It was simple and sweet. I smiled and said yes. The stars continued to shine, but the night felt even more special after that.
When I was planning the proposal for Amanda, I was more nervous than I’d ever been, but it was the kind of nervousness that comes from wanting everything to be perfect for someone you love. I knew Cole Mountain in Lynchburg, VA was the perfect place to ask her. It’s a spot we’ve both loved for its incredible views and peacefulness—a place where we’d spent time together, just enjoying nature and each other’s company. The day was radiant, making it feel like the Lord was right there with us. As we reached the top, surrounded by the mountain views, I couldn’t help but think that no matter how breathtaking the scenery was, nothing could compare to her. I got down on one knee, very nervous, and asked Amanda to spend the rest of her life with me. In that moment, it felt like everything had come together—the perfect place for the most beautiful girl. I’ll never forget how her smile lit up the entire mountain when she said yes.
