Our Story

Jack and Taryn are so excited to share the beginning of this new chapter of their lives with the people they love the most; however, you may be curious where the book actually started. Well, here is their story. In 2019 after Taryn graduated from college, she felt she needed a change. She decided to move from Rocklin, California to West Seattle, taking her uncle Bruce up on his offer to live in one of his rental houses. In 2020 when everything shut down (stupid covid) Taryn decided to leave her job as a housekeeper on Mercer island and started working at True Value in West Seattle. She was beginning to feel as if maybe Washington wasn’t for her and was thinking about making the move back to California, but this decision was halted when she met her new coworker, Jack. Taryn and Jack became fast friends, and her life in Seattle became a million times better. She would always find an excuse to go visit Jack at the service center and Jack would always try to check out in Taryn’s line. They began to hang out after work and on weekends. Seemingly, every person in the hardware store knew what was happening - except Taryn and Jack. The couple’s relationship began to blossom as they both had their own hopes for a future with each other, but that is when their first challenge began. Jack moved to Ellensburg, 2 hours away from Seattle, to start a new career. Unwilling to give up on their budding relationship, and Jack being the wonderful man he is, he made the four hour trip to visit Taryn every weekend. In March 2021 they (finally) made it official and by the next year, they decided to move in together in Ellensburg. After several happy years together, in December 2024 Jack surprised Taryn with a trip to Leavenworth. They got delicious pizza, had a few drinks and then went on a walk along the frosty riverbank. It was on that snow covered beach that Jack got on one knee and proposed. Taryn grabbed the ring and forgot to say yes. She just stood there smiling and quietly looking at the ring for probably the longest minute of Jack's life (how very Gollum of her). After she snapped out of it and said yes, she gave the ring back to Jack so he could put it on her finger, where it’s sat ever since. Jack and Taryn have been together for 5 years now and have built a wonderful life together in Ellensburg with their two cats - shout out to Simon and Ella. Now you are all caught up. See you on 10/10/2026!
