Okay, we're totally biased because JC's family and friends have been running this fine restaurant since before she was born. BUT, the food is amazing. The menu is totally vegan and honestly, you can't tell. This is by far Gabe and JC's favorite place to go when they're in the Dells - partly because Mama Gilmore is always back in the kitchen somewhere - but mostly because its just phenomenal food! Don't hesitate, just go. You WILL NOT regret it. Its just off the square in downtown Baraboo. Enjoy! (We sure will).
As long as weather permits, Devil's Lake State Park is a wonderful escape from the hustle-and-bustle of the Dells. Its tucked away in the forests of Baraboo and centers around the beautiful and serene Devil's Lake. Perfect for hiking and exploring - and if its nice out, maybe even relaxing on the lake's beach! Non-members pay a small parking fee. Enjoy!
Definitely JC's favorite restaurant in the Dells - but she's a little biased...after all, she used to be a waitress there! But in all seriousness, GREAT food. Family-friendly. Right in the center of downtown. What else could you ask for?
We haven't had the chance to actually experience the Grateful Shed yet - but ALL of JC's hometown friends have recommended that we check it out. A description online describes this new Dells hot-spot best, "Wisconsin’s first indoor food truckyard, offering food that is wildly unique and insanely delicious." Apparently, there are food trucks and actual trucks - that's all we needed, we'll definitely be checking this out... so join us!
Yet another restaurant the bride waitressed at, back in the day. Ishnala is hands-down the best supper club we've been to. People come for the food and continue to come back for the breathtaking views of Mirror Lake. It is what one would call "fine dining," and therefore it is a bit more expensive than your other options in town. But you can taste and feel the difference. It's nestled away in the forest surrounding Mirror Lake. Quite literally a hidden gem. Perfect if you're craving steak or lobster tails! YUM.
