Greg and I first matched on Bumble at the end of February 2023. We chatted for about two weeks, and while the conversation flowed easily, no date had been set. So I decided to take matters into my own hands and sent him this message: “Your two-week free match subscription to Jacie is expiring on 3/11. To continue this subscription, feel free to ask Jacie on a date. If you are uninterested in continuing your subscription, it will automatically be discontinued on the expiration date listed above, and no further action is required.” Moments later, our first date was scheduled. We met for a walk through Balboa Park. When I first saw Greg, he was even cuter than his pictures. We wandered through the park while he told me all about Magic: The Gathering and flying creatures. I don’t remember many details of the conversation, mostly because I was too busy being giddy and nervous—because he was so ridiculously cute. Like seriously, look at that jawline! We ended the evening with ramen, where I shared my deep love for Beyoncé, and we talked for hours before he walked me back to my car and hugged me goodbye. Immediately after, I sent a message to my best friend on Marco Polo, gushing about the date, how much I liked Greg, and how much I hoped there would be a second one. Before I even made it home, Greg texted to say he had a great time and wanted to plan another date. We’ve been inseparable ever since. And yes—I even tried to learn how to play Magic: The Gathering, and Beyoncé is on Greg’s most-played artists from 2023–2026.
