It all started on a sidewalk in Baton Rouge after we each left different Christmas parties. Kaleb walked up to Jacey and pointed out his friend who had lost his jacket. Without missing a beat, Jacey replied, “Didn’t your mama ever teach you to put your name and number in your jacket?” Kaleb loved the quick comeback and struck up a conversation, asking where she was from. When she said Slidell, he immediately started teasing her about it but somehow, it worked. Jacey ended up giving him her number. The very next day, Kaleb left the country for a wedding and was gone for nine days, but we stayed in touch the whole time. As soon as he got back, we were inseparable. Not long after, Kaleb went in for a kiss… and Jacey insisted she didn’t want to date him. That didn’t last long. Later that week, Kaleb took Jacey goose hunting, where she shot her first goose (and yes, it was banded). Two weeks later, Kaleb met Jacey’s parents on New Year’s Eve, and somewhere along the way, Jacey decided she did want to date him. Since then, we’ve been tailgating, hunting, and finding any excuse to have a good time together.
