It was a typical Sunday morning for Mandi and Jace: coffee, breakfast and church. But unlike any other Sunday morning, Jace had planned the night before to finally take Mandi on the walk she had been asking him to go on all week. Having made up an excuse to drive past the high school after church, Jace suggested they go for a walk around the football field as he was feeling nostalgic and this was where he first asked her to homecoming their sophomore year of high school. It took some persuading to convince Mandi that she did not need to go home to change into athletic clothes first, but eventually they parked and started to walk around the track. Mandi was unsuspecting at this point despite Jace’s lack of conversation and uncharacteristically short responses to her questions. After a lap around the track, they headed back towards the entrance where Jace got down on one knee and asked Mandi to marry him in the same spot where their relationship began six years earlier. She didn’t start crying immediately so Jace wondered if he was doing something wrong, but then Mandi’s knees buckled and she started crying, and he knew that he had done it right.
