We met our freshman year in college through Givante's older brother Dee. It was Sunday afternoon, myself along with another friend was in Dee's room just hanging out. Dee needed to go to the store so he called someone on the phone and asked them to bring their car keys down. A few minutes later there was a knock at the door. A handsome young fella walked in and me being me, I said "Dee who is that?!" Dee said "That's my brother!" I said "YOUR BROTHER??" Dee said "Lupie take your hat off." As soon as he took his hat off, you could literally see the resemblance in them both and that moment I knew Dee wasn't lying. They really were brothers! LOL So as soon as Givante walked out, I asked Dee if he had a girlfriend and he said he wasn't sure. So the next day, Dee text me asking if he could give Givante my number and I said sure! The rest was history because he fell in love with me instantly! But seriously, from the time we graduated from college and the following years later, we kept in touch periodically and even tried to rekindle things a few times, but it was never successful. So we let time go by, and in January of 2019 we met up again and Givante made it very clear that he was not going to let me get away this time and he meant what he said. Nine months later.... HE PUT A RING ON IT!

Months leading up to the actual proposal, Givante would randomly ask me questions about marriage or how I would want my dream proposal to be. I told him that no matter how it went, I wanted my family and close friends to be apart of it. So at the beginning of October, I planned a trip out of town for Givante's birthday weekend but due to unforeseen circumstances we weren't able to go out of town. Instead, Givante said that he was going to take me out to eat that Friday. I asked him if I needed to dress cute or cute cute and he told me to just dress cute and I didn't like that at all because I really don't know how to dress if I don't know the occasion. LOL Friday came and he told me to be ready at 5:30pm so I didn't eat at all that day because I wanted to save my appetite for this good meal! (He always takes me to the good restaurants lol) 5:30pm came and he was no where to be found! I started calling and texting him, because I became HANGRY (hungry & angry) When he finally showed up, he said that he had to run by his cousin house because he left his wallet so I said well when we get there I have to use the restroom. When we got to his cousin house, looking back on it, I didn't know why we went through the front entrance because we always go in from the back, but I wasn't paying attention because I had to use the restroom so bad. I asked Givante where was the bathroom and he said it's back here, he opened the door and it led me outside to ALLL of my family and friends along with his as well! One our favorite songs were playing and when I turned around from talking to my daddy, Givante was on one knee! I was such in shock and crying hysterically that I really don't remember what he was saying! My dad yelled out, "We ain't got all day baby!" I finally said, “YES!"
