Andrew and Julie met in the early summer of 2022. They hit it off immediately over drinks and supper at the Thirsty Scholar in Saskatoon. Julie was working as a travel nurse in the ICU and Andrew was teaching Industrial Arts in Saskatoon. There was something special between them, and they agreed to see each other again. As the summer rolled into fall, Andrew couldn’t stop thinking about Julie and asked if she’d be his official girlfriend on Sept 11. Julie of course said yes; maybe it was because he had taken her out on the river for a canoe ride, one of Andrew’s favourite activities. As their first Christmas approached, Julie invited Andrew to celebrate the holidays in Brandon, MB, her hometown and where the rest of her family still lived. He was nervous about meeting the whole family, but he joined them and had a great time getting to know everyone and celebrating New Year’s Filipino style. Julie bought a house in Saskatoon the next year, and Andrew knew she was going to stay. They fixed it up together and Julie began renting out her spare rooms to fellow travel nurses. As the two lovebirds grew in their relationship, they did many fun things together, often travelling to some interesting places. Canoe trips in northern Saskatchewan, ski trips to Vancouver Island and Golden BC, surfing and diving in the Dominican Republic, and a two-week adventure in Peru! It was a rainy February day on Vancouver Island when Andrew felt the itch to take their relationship one step further; he asked for Julie’s hand in marriage under an 800-year-old Douglas Fir tree in a quiet little park on the side of the road. Of course, Julie said yes. Julie and Andrew love to make plans for the future and now are planning their lives together. They can't wait what joys and adventures will be in store for them!
