Their story began with a game of BINGO. Tanner, Jared's friend, invited Amber and Jared to play bingo at the L&M Bar in Dundas, MN on January 12, 2018. At first they didn't say anything to each other because they were shy. Eventually, the "how's it going" turned into what they liked to do, what they did for work, the projects they were working on, travel, family, where they grew up, and more. Not sure if it was coincidence, but Amber learned that the auto shop that she started taking her blazer to was the very shop that Jared worked at. Jared recognized the blazer that Amber drove with the Montana license plates on it. They had many things in common, and despite both of them being very quiet, they learned that talking with each other wasn't so bad; it actually came easy. At the end of that bingo night, they went their separate ways. They were too shy to ask for each other's number, so they did not contact each other until March 3rd. Amber had to bring her blazer into the auto shop, and lo and behold, Jared worked on it. When Amber went to pick up her blazer, Jared's boss, Doug, talked to Amber a little bit about the car, but more about Jared. Amber thought Jared forgot all about her, but little did she know that neither one of them forgot about each other. Amber gave Doug permission to share her number with Jared. Jared reached out, and they started with weekly hangouts, to talking every night, to going on day-long adventures on the weekends, to finally going steady officially on May 18th, 2018. Even though on their first date, Amber told Jared that she just wanted to be friends, it didn't stop Jared from being the best friend he could be. Slowly, they built a friendship that morphed into a relationship that they continue to build slowly, steadily, and very surely every day. They agreed to date for at least three years before they would take it to the next step. On July 14th, 2021, Jared proposed to Amber while hiking on Amber's favorite hiking trail in the Rocky Mountains. They went off the main, graveled trail to a spot that overlooks a lake, miles of pines, and scattered native Montana wild-flowers. Of course, she said yes! They both feel that they have won big when playing bingo that January day.
