We first met during our junior year of high school, just before the world changed in 2020. We were introduced through a mutual friend who thought we might be a good match—and she was right. Not long after, Conner messaged me (which I almost didn’t answer), and that simple conversation turned into something neither of us expected. Our first date was a picnic in downtown Lake Mary, simple and sweet… even if a little awkward (at least on my end). At first, I wasn’t entirely sure what to think and even considered ending things early on. But with a little encouragement from my mom—who saw what I couldn’t yet—I decided to give him a real chance. A few weeks later, we spent a full day together at the beach, and that was the moment everything changed. I realized I had fallen for him. He, on the other hand, had known from the very beginning and never once had a doubt. We finished high school together and then set off to chase our dreams in college athletics—I cheered while he played baseball. This led us into two years of long distance, with him in Michigan and me in Tampa. It wasn’t always easy, but distance only made us stronger. Through every challenge, we showed up for each other, supported one another’s dreams, and never stopped choosing each other. During our senior year, he made the decision to come home, and suddenly weekends together became possible again, even with me living two hours away. We made the most of every visit and created memories that mean everything to us. Today, we’re lucky enough to work together and see each other almost every day, and somehow, we never get tired of it. Nearly six years later, we’re still best friends, still laughing, and more certain than ever that we’re meant to spend our lives together. He proposed in the most perfect way—one he knew I would love. With the help of my friends, I was convinced we were heading to the beach in Tampa for fun birthday photos. Instead, I arrived to find him waiting with flowers beautifully placed in the sand, a breathtaking sunset behind us, and a moment that felt straight out of a dream. Saying yes was easy, and beginning forever together feels even better.
