How it ALL Began

October 5, 2010

Although we knew who one another was all throughout high school we just never seemed to have any overlap in our lives — that was until our junior year religion class. We had a mutual friend and all three of us bonded over how much we disliked the teacher we had for the class. Though we bonded and quickly became friends, we really never had an opportunity to be alone. It wasn’t until our mutual friend got so sick that they ended up being out of class for a couple of weeks that we found ourselves getting closer (and not just by by a desk either) … however that’s where it began and ended. And during the summer months our relationship sort of did too. Then once our senior year began we realized that we going to be in another class together, which meant we were going to spend at least another semester together. So to get over the awkwardness of having to spend so much more time together, there were endless apologies about our falling out over the summer. And it didn’t take very long for us to get our feelings back for each other. Now here we are almost 12 years later still together and FINALLY getting married!

The Ask

July 12, 2020

After almost 10 years together, you start to question whether or not a proposal is coming along. After many long conversations and some even longer months the thought of it happening was finally there! So naturally everywhere you go is extra exciting, especially when you’re beginning to expect a proposal could happen at any moment. …AND THEN THE PANDEMIC CAME — and the thought of a proposal disappeared faster than the toilet paper in supermarkets. Thankfully other than a lack of a commute for David, life hadn’t changed that drastically for us. Despite that, we were still doing our best to stay home unless it was necessary to go out. Eventually when we decided that we were comfortable enough to go to out we decided on driving up to Bailey Arboretum to take a nice outdoor walk. Initially there were no thoughts on a proposal, however whenever David started to linger behind thoughts went from “wouldn’t it be funny if he was going to propose right now” into “THIS IS GOING TO HAPPEN RIGHT NOW!” Then after about an hour of it not happening, the idea was let go… After our walk, David suggested relaxing under a tree for a while since it had been so long since we’ve been out and it might be nice to just hang around outside before going back into quarantining. We were just talking and laughing and having a great time when David said that he had a question to ask and then pulled out a ring from his front pocket and asked: “Will you marry me?”
