Nikki walked into the Kid’s Ministry building at Bayside Granite Bay Church on Halloween, 2021, with costume dog ears and a painted nose. Izaak was there volunteering, and his first thought was "Woof, I want to meet her!" The next week after a volunteer lunch, Izaak and Nikki connected and started talking to each other about their passion for God, where life has taken them and 2000's pop music. They spent more and more time together. Izaak pursued a romantic relationship but Nikki was hesitant. They appeared so different on the surface and she wasn’t sure she was ready. Months later, her and Izaak ended up getting COVID at the same time. They reconnected over text, checking in with each other- which turned into watching movies, long Zoom calls, and hanging out every day in person for a week. At this point, Nikki realized she enjoyed every moment she got to spend with him and wanted more. She saw Izaak for the wonderful man he is. They started dating February 12, 2022. Since then, Izaak and Nikki have intertwined their lives and interests, serving at the church, playing board games, going on travels, and connecting with friends. They’ve seen God use the relationship to grow them both. They are each other’s best supporter, encourager, and friend. Izaak and Nikki got engaged in Big Sur on October 11, 2023. They are thrilled and so grateful to enter the covenant of marriage surrounded by close family and friends!
