How We Met

From Ben’s Perspective

1 year, 5 months, 2 days..that’s how long our journey has been so far, and it’s been quite a ride. It all started in June of 2018 (if you wanna get real specific). Yahn was interning for a summer workshop in Durham, while I (Ben) was in town visiting with my boy Zach. We don’t remember who, but someone introduced us briefly. Fast forward about a month, we both sat at the same table with some friends at the Every Nation Campus staff summit in Chantilly, VA - we hit it off and had a great time! That started a sporadic chain of Instagram DMs over the year where we would essentially check in with each other over some general conversation. In June of 2019, we talked via Instagram, while I was at the airport on the way to Lima, Peru for a missions trip. About 2 days into the trip, I had some questions and long story short, she said "why don’t we just have this conversation over the phone at some time?" Then we exchanged those digits. Lol! After that we started texting. Texting led to phone conversations, and phone conversations turned into LONG and DEEP phone conversations. She was heading to Cuba for a missions trip a few weeks later. We wouldn't have contact during her trip. The Every Nation World Conference was the following week and we were both planning to attend. I knew the time to make a move was upon me, and so that’s exactly what I did. I invited her to coffee at the beginning of the week of the conference. Short version: over coffee, I told her what's good; she did reciprocate the vibes, we did end up together by the end of the week, and then we did survive over a year of long distance, to then “did get engaged.” She never got rid of me y’all, and now she got about...2 months and some change to change her mind ;') Seriously though, it’s been a great journey, with a great woman, being guided and empowered by a Great God. We thank you all in advance for all the support, all the prayers, and all of the gifts. We’re excited to see how God moves going forward!
