Our Forever Begins

The first time we met was during a UIU (Umu Igbo Unite) personal financial panel event April 2022. Kelechi was one of the panel speakers and IJ was the event coordinator for the Atlanta chapter that year. Nothing particularly special happened that evening. Kelechi tried talking to IJ that evening but she was too busy working for her to take notice of Kelechi. It wasn’t exactly the most memorable moment for either person. However, neither person knew that this would be the moment that changed. IJ remained on Kelechi’s mind after the event, for some reason he just had a desire to talk to her more. Unfortunately, Kelechi didn’t have IJ’s number to try to connect. So he did the next best thing, he slid in them DMs. He asked IJ out to a concert to which she obviously said NO. Yeah not exactly what he expected either. However, she did say she would rather go for dinner. On Thursday June 9th, 2022, we went on our first ever date. Spent over 4 hours talking that evening. We were so engrossed in each other that we had to be kicked out of Ponce. Since that day, through all the various celebrations and challenges we continue choosing each other. With the Holy Spirit and our community, we have learned to embrace our differences that would otherwise push us apart. Our differences have become a way of self improvement and openness, enabling us to accept each other for who we are. This one decision leads to continued commitment to the work our love requires and the beautiful testimony God continues to show us. With God at the center, we pray our union will last our life time and He will enable us to keep growing in love. We can’t wait to celebrate with you all.
