Our Love StoryOur Love Story

Like every great modern romance, ours began... at the office. He was the attorney. She was the assistant. And no, it wasn’t scandalous (we promise). What started with shared calendars and weekly meetings to go over work, turned into inside jokes, long-talks about friends, family, life and their shared love of the Scream franchise. These events all led to one unforgettable night when Meg went to a Morgan Wallen concert and got enough liquid courage to text Xander, "ditch your Hinge date and date me". Their first date was at a bar called Fireplace Inn. Sparks flew—but honestly, they had been flying since meeting at the office. The next week, Xander and Meg went to the Cubs game at a rooftop for groomsman Ron Bailitz's birthday. Xander impressed Meg by winning a hotdog eating contest in front of the entire rooftop. Most people might have felt uncomfortable seeing a guy they just started dating eat a hotdog in record time, but Meg was not most people. Meg was just as impressed as the rest of the crowd. From hotdog eating contests to his wiffleball prowess, Xander always tries his best to surprise Meg. Our relationship has been full of firsts: our first big international vacation together (to Ireland, Germany and Iceland —her first time out of the country!), our first apartment filled with mismatched furniture and 3 sets of fur baby paws, and our first car together. So much love and laughter led up to a proposal on the State Street Bridge in Chicago, surrounded by the skyline and people who didn’t realize they were witnessing a major life moment, as well as our loving and supportive families that definitely were not looking at the wrong bridge. At the heart of our relationship are the people we love. Our families mean the world to us—especially our niece, Alison, and nephews, Patrick and Carter, who always keep us laughing and humble. Our friends are more like family, and we feel incredibly lucky to be surrounded by a group of people who are loud, loyal, incredibly supportive and always down for a party (or a group chat). We're so excited to celebrate this next chapter with the people who helped write the first ones. Thank you for being part of our story—we can't wait to dance, laugh, and maybe cry happy tears with all of you on the big day.
