Do you know that couple who met one night by chance? The same place, same time. The stars aligned. Lucky happenstance bringing two souls together? The universe working for the power of love? Well that's not us, exactly. We met on a dating app (Hinge) which boasts the tagline: "destined to be deleted." So I guess, in some respects, we were destined to be together, albeit digitally. On December 26, 2018, Sam -- slouching on the couch in a holiday food stupor -- commented on Ivy's picture on her Hinge profile where she was lying in a bed of sprinkles. He is 99% sure it was a dumb joke about the sprinkles potentially being Skittles and that being neat. And yet, miraculously, Ivy enjoyed Sam's comment enough to write back. Flirtatious conversation ensued. At this time, Ivy temporarily lived and worked in her home town of New Albany, MS for the holidays. Sam was set to host a New Years Eve party at his Downtown Memphis loft. Because fortune favors the bold, Sam invited Ivy, after a few days of messaging, to his NYE soiree. Because Ivy is Ivy, she shockingly said YES, though she planned to bring along a friend in case Sam turned out to be plain weird (he is) or a serial killer (he isn't) or both. At NYE, sparks flew. Ivy and Sam laughed. Sam cracked more dumb jokes. Ivy sang Hinder and Creed songs. A fun night was had by all. Sam went to New Albany shortly after for a night out in Tupelo. Then, we started to trade weekends between Mississippi and Memphis. Each hang was more fun than the last. Ivy decided to forgo her life as a travel PT and take a gig in Memphis to kick the tires on this Sam fella. The rest, as they say, is history. A kajillion weddings, a hike to Macchu Picchu, and a few Creed songs later, Ivy and Sam purchased a house in Cooper Young (shoutout Felix Ave!) and currently enjoy playing water badminton, cuddling with their mutt Harper, and above all, spending time with one another since every moment together is an honest to God thrill.
