It was a cold rainy night of fall, 2017. Ivy was minding her own business paying attention in class and interacting. She was participating and Richard would awkwardly (very awkwardly) look at her and then chuckle, shake his head, and look away quickly. Ivy thought that Richard simply thought that she was crazy and blew him off. January 2018, Ivy and Richard ended up in the History of Food class at the same time, before she had to present one night. She was pacing back and forth before class, having consumed way too much caffeine, adrenaline pumping before having to present. They talked a little bit, but not much. At the end of the night Richard made his FAMOUS comment, "I don't think you really work at Bath and Body Works, I go to Dairy Queen at the Mall there and I never see you there when I go." He then quickly left the classroom and RAN! The next shift Ivy worked, she took a picture of herself at Bath and Body Works and sent it to Richard over Facebook Messenger. From that moment, they wrote back and forth A LOT. One day Ivy tried to give him her phone number, it didn't work.... he FRIENDZONED her. She quickly said, "Oh no, I meant so we could just be friends." She tried all sorts of things to get back to the talking relationship they had before. Their friend Frank stepped in and helped them out. Richard didn't realized that Ivy liked Richard, or Ivy didn't realize that Richard liked Ivy. So Frank helped make it clear that they both clearly liked each other and that they should just go for it. So one night they went out for coffee, then they went out to Montana, climbed a mountain to get engaged, and here they are getting married!
The day was Wednesday August 21st. Both of us were attending the Reformation 500 class with Dr. McNabb. I remember it had been raining that night and Ivy was soaked and drinking a terrible nutritious shake. She had a cute smile and a fiery passion for Religious confrontations. We did not begin dating that moment but certainly the fire was being made, so when it came time for the next semester to start I said to myself, "Richard if that Ivy girl is in your class, you're going to ask her out." Well, the first day of classes begin and guess what? She was there in the chair beside me. She still had the cute smile but my confidence levels were still questionable and believed that she still deserved better. So, naturally like any reasonable person placed her in the friend zone. However, we still had a mutual friend named Frank that was able to boost my confidence levels and I was finally able to remove the friend zone constraints that plagued our relationship. I began my relationship with the woman I love February 14, 2018. I look forward to spending the rest of my life with my buddy.
