yesterday, today, and forever

Kurtis and Ivy first met in 2016 at Southern Adventist University in Tennessee through mutual friends, both of whom are involved in the big day (their officiant and one of Ivy’s Matrons of Honor)! After meeting, the pair would walk each other to class, study together at the library, and eat at Red Robin with friends on the weekends. Ivy introduced Kurtis to her family in the summer of 2017 when he flew to California for the first time. When they returned to SAU that fall, Kurtis asked Ivy to be his girlfriend in front of an ice cream shop on September 16, 2017, over a full year after they first met. The couple then experienced the highs and lows of long distance for the next 6 years, seeing each other in person two or three times annually. Through FaceTime calls, voicemails, care packages, and God’s leading, Kurtis and Ivy pushed through, choosing each other through the years. On June 22nd, 2024, Kurtis proposed to Ivy in front of the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. Later that afternoon, they celebrated this milestone at a surprise engagement party with their families and closest friends, all of whom traveled from multiple states! The two have consistently recognized God’s guidance in their relationship, and couldn’t be more grateful knowing that it is through Him that they’ll be joined in marriage. They feel so deeply blessed that they get to celebrate with all of you — thank you for being part of their story.
