As Bellinghampsters (yup that's what they call people who live in Bellingham), we are wildly bias to thinking our backyard is most magical place in Washington. Early October can mean we're already snowed in and hiking won't be as accessible but a lot of years we still have lots of options! The most iconic hikes in the Baker Wilderness include: Yellow Aster Butte, 7.5 miles, 2550ft gain Ptarmigan Ridge, 9 miles, 1800ft gain Heliotrope Ridge, 5.5 miles, 1400ft gain Winchester Mountain (where Drew & I will get officially married!), 3.4 miles, 1300ft gain

Here are some starters: Take the ferry to Bainbridge, if you get a clear day you will get stunning mountain and city views! Catch a sunset at Carkeek, Golden Gardens, or Kerry Park. Rent a hot tub boat on Lake Union Go to one of the many (many) climbing gyms.
Spoiler alert for my favorite East Coasters, the North Cascades are THE mountain range in the U.S.. As in, seriously they are mind blowing and we love them. Drive out on highway 20 and drive through the heart of the cascades. Take the ferry across Diablo lake (think gatorade blue water surrounded by mountains) Hike some of the iconic hikes: Heather Maple Loop, Cutthroat Pass, Blue Lake (really can't go wrong out here folks)

Ruby Beach, great for tidal pools, looking at creatures at low tide Lake Crescent, stunning & road brings you right along it Hurricane Ridge, drive up and get phenomenal mountain views Cape Flattery, most northwestern point in continental U.S. Quinault Rainforest, or second best, Hoh Rainforest
