Bryce met Ivy while she was working as a teller at his local Sedro Woolley Skagit Bank. He would come in to cash his paychecks weekly and visit with her about their mutual interests of hunting, fishing, and camping. They quickly became good friends. Ivy relocated to a different branch and once Bryce discovered he wouldn’t see her as regularly anymore, he asked her on their first date September of 2017 to go fishing on the Samish river. They spent the evening fishing, talking, drinking a few beers and watching the sunset and have been inseperable ever since. December 25, 2018 Bryce gave Ivy a stocking for Christmas at his parents house. She got to the final present in the stocking - a ring box. She opened the box, confused as it was empty. Bryce then said, “Oh, must be the one in my pocket...” and got down on one knee and asked for Ivy’s hand in marriage. The pair moved into their first home together in Mount Vernon in January of 2019 with their beloved pets, Bear the English Cream Golden Retriever and their cat Calvin.
