Where & when should I fly?

Cancun (CUN). We’d love to see you Thurs 3/3 through Mon 3/7, but come when’s most convenient for you. When looking at arrival times, we do recommend landing before sundown because it’s more pleasant to get to the island during the day & the last ferry leaves at 11pm. CARM recommends not landing after 9pm, but we'd recommend landing earlier in case your flight has any delays. When looking at departing times, know that your departure ferry from Isla should leave 3 hours before your flight. The first ferry from the island is at 6am, so CARM recommends not booking a flight before 9:30am. We'd recommend departing after noon so you're not in a huge rush or face issues in trying to get a cab to the ferry or drop off a golf cart.

How do I book my airport transfers & ferry tickets with CARM?

Once you've booked your flight, please use this URL to book your roundtrip airport transfers & ferry tickets (total is $60 per person): https://www.cancunandrivieramaya.com/wedding/ivan-scott.asp CARM will group you with other guests landing within 30 minutes of you. This keeps the cost as low as possible and makes travel easier for everyone. If you’re traveling to or from somewhere other than the Cancun airport, you can send a message to CARM to figure that out. For example, they can take you to or pick you up from Isla Holbox, Tulum, etc. Contact details can be found on the link.

How do I get from the airport to Isla Mujeres?

You’ll deboard, go through customs, pass the tour kiosks, (potentially stop at the ATM) & exit the airport to ground transportation. A driver with a CARM sign will be waiting for you at pick-up (near the outside bar if you want a beer for the road). The drive to the Puerto Juarez ferry is about 30 minutes. The driver will have your roundtrip ferry tickets (so make sure to keep them somewhere safe for your return). Please do not forget to tip your drivers! Ferries leave every half hour until 5:30pm and then switch to every hour until 11pm. There’s drinks, coffee, bathrooms, ATM, etc. at the port for while you wait. http://www.ultramarferry.com/en/routes-and-departures

Travel Note

What happens if I’m delayed or miss the last ferry?

From entering your flight information, CARM will know if you're delayed & be tracking your new arrival time. If you happen to miss the last ferry due to delays, CARM will help get you to a Cancun hotel for the night or connect you with a private boat provider (e.g., La Vida Chula Water Limos).

Travel Note

How do I get from the ferry to Casa Bonita?

A taxi ride to Casa Bonita should cost you about $3-4 USD or $60-90 pesos. Exit the ferry, take a left out of the port & walk a minute until you see the taxi stand on your left. Ask a taxi to take you to Casa Bonita & Villas in Punta Sur. The driver should know where to go, but if they’re unfamiliar, you can let them know it’s near Kin Ha at Casa Suenos, or give them the property’s exact address: South Point, Carretera a Garrafon, Fraccionamiento Turqueza, Coral 1, 77400 Q.R., Mexico

Travel Note

How will we get around the island?

We plan to have golf carts waiting on you at the property & organize people into groups of 4 to split the cost of them (~50 per person). They’re the best way to get around the island and a lot of fun.

Travel Note

How do I prepare for customs?

International travel requires 6 months of validity on your passport. If it expires before 9/7/22, please renew it ASAP. They can be very slow. Once you fly and filling out your arrival forms on the plane, list your local destination address as “Casa Bonita & Villas.” For the city use “Isla Mujeres.” For the state use “Q Roo” (short for Quintana Roo). You have to sign the form twice (front and back). Authorities will give you part of the document for your return trip (return visa). Keep this part with your passport (it can be replaced, but there is a fee and it can be time intensive).

Travel Note

How do I get back to the airport?

You need to time your return ferry to be 3 hours before your departure time. Your CARM transport to the airport will be waiting at Puerto Juarez for you to get off the ferry. Ivan or Scott can help you confirm the right ferry times once your flights are booked.
