We met in the Summer of 2022, both 30 years old and at a turning point in our lives. Katie had just packed up her life in New York City, ready to spend the summer traveling before relocating to Australia. Ivan was living in London, enjoying his party boy era, but quietly ready for something more. Fate (and work) brought us together. Katie had just kicked off a series of global events with her company and Ivan happened to be attending one of them. But our story didn’t begin in a conference room - it started on a dance floor in Prague. Ivan strolled into the nightclub with a group of younger colleagues, and Katie, assuming he was one of them, immediately tried to set him up with a junior teammate. But Ivan, confident and charming, made it clear: “I’m 30. And I’m only interested in you.” His boldness, sincerity, and no-games attitude were a refreshing change, and in that moment we just clicked. From that night on, we were inseparable. Katie continued her travels, but FaceTimed with Ivan for hours every day. Within a few weeks, we had booked a spontaneous holiday together in Florence, where we shared candlelit dinners, got lost down cobblestone alleys, and quickly fell in love. By the end of that trip, Ivan asked Katie to be his girlfriend and she said yes without hesitation. The next few months were spent navigating long-distance from Australia to London - dodging time zones, squeezing in calls, and missing each other more than we expected. In January 2023, Katie moved to London, and we settled into Ivan's small flat that quickly became home, filled with daily croissants, British shenanigans, and Italian home-cooked meals. In early 2024, we took on our next big adventure - moving to the U.S. and going through the joys of visa paperwork. That August, we welcomed Bondi into our lives, our sweet Cavapoo puppy and the main character in our family. Then, in March 2025, Ivan proposed during a quiet night at home. It was simple, meaningful, and perfect. Now, here we are ready to say “I do,” in our own way, just the two of us and Bondi as our witness. And we’ve got so much more to come - this is only the beginning!
