The closest airport is Monterey Regional Airport (MRY)—just a 15-minute drive from downtown Carmel-by-the-Sea. While it’s a small airport, it offers daily connecting flights from major hubs like Dallas, Denver, Phoenix, and San Francisco. For guests traveling from the East Coast, we recommend booking a connection through one of these cities for the most seamless arrival. Rental cars, rideshares, and taxis are readily available at the terminal.

San Jose Mineta International Airport (SJC) is about a 1½-hour drive from Carmel-by-the-Sea and offers many direct flights from major East Coast cities. For guests preferring not to rent a car, the Monterey Airbus (Groome Transportation) provides shuttle service to the Monterey area—with departures nearly every hour, and one-way fares around $50-$80.
