Question

Tips while in Croatia/Europe

Answer

1. Have cash, a lot of local places do not accept credit cards/debit cards 2. Europe uses the Euro (€) in many countries, but not all. Some countries, like the United Kingdom, Switzerland, and others, have their own currencies. 3. If renting a car make sure its automatics unless otherwise you are capable of driving manual. Note: NO RIGHT TURN on red, it will result in ticket. Your USA driver's licence is valid overseas. 4. Electricity is 220 volts as well as plugs are constructed differently. Europe generally uses a Type C or Type E power outlet. Make sure to bring a power adapter to charge your electronic devices. 5. Your phone will not have service overseas, best solution we have found is to either talk to your cell service provider and purchase a overseas internet package or buy an electronic SIM card that will do the same. 6. If looking to incorporate a "Europe trip experience" i would start looking at tickets, hotels, Airbnb's sooner rather than later as prices will change with coming closer to the event. 7. You will need a passport to travel overseas and between countries 8. If someone offers you more than 3-4 RAKIJAS (moonshine) in a span of 1 hour, from personal experience i would have some break and water with it. 9. Make sure you have travel insurance that covers health emergencies. European countries often have universal healthcare, but it may not cover tourists. 10. Some public restrooms may require a small fee, so it's a good idea to carry some change. Also, be prepared for differences in restroom styles and plumbing. 11. In some places, especially smaller towns, shops and services may be closed or have limited hours on Sundays. 12. Be prepared for jet lag. Croatia is 7 hours ahead of CTE (Alabama time), i.e. if its 3 pm Alabama time then it is 10 pm Croatia. To have a smoother transition drink lots of water and dont take naps during day. 13. Coffee is much stronger! 14. DOWNLOAD GOOGLE MAPS OFF LINE! Its available on Google Maps application.

Question

Visa/ETIAS & Passport

Answer

PASSPORT Have at least six-month’s validity remaining on your passport book at the time of entry into the Schengen area. Check the expiration date on your passport book carefully before traveling to Europe – especially minors’ passports, which are valid for five years, not 10 years like those issued to U.S. citizen adults age 16 and older. Carry your passport book when traveling to another country in the Schengen area. Even if there is no border check at that time, officials may reinstate border controls without notice. ETIAS/VISA ETIAS is an electronic travel authorization, also known as a visa waiver, for Europe. The system is currently under development— it will be operational from 2025. As a U.S. citizen, you will need ETIAS to visit European Schengen countries on vacation or business trips. To get your ETIAS, you have to fill out an online application form with basic details. You’ll also answer a few safety-related questions to verify you are eligible for visa-free travel to Europe. Please visit this page for additional information about applying for ETIAS and if it applicable to you. https://travel-europe.europa.eu/etias_en The application is currently unavailable, as it becomes available we will post the link here.

Question

Presents/Card

Answer

Its custom in Croatian weddings for guests to give money. However, due to costs of travel and attendance we do not expect that from you. We are mentioning this because there will be a part of the night were a line of guests will be formed and that is when cards are given. We kindly ask just to bring a signed card with you.
