In 2017 they must have learned all the lessons necessary, and felt confident enough about themselves, and been open enough to true love to finally resonate at a similar enough frequency to lay eyes on each other! It was at a festival in spring. Itzel went to a friend's camp to ask for a vegan snack Drew : "I'm vegan too!" Itzel: "I'm a vegan chef" Drew: "So am I!" Itzel glared at him with intense eyes of love. Drew reached out his fingers as to make a V. Itzel reached out hers to meet his! And as they say, "The rest is history"

Itzel's dream was to be proposed to on a hot air balloon ride during sunrise over sacred temples. Drew planned exactly that. Since they spend almost every waking second together Itzel sort of figured out the surprise and told her family who assumed she knew everything! So very quickly the "cat came out of the bag," so to speak, when her brother told the cab driver exactly where they were heading. So, they enjoyed a beautiful sunrise hot air balloon ride over the sun and moon pyramids... but no proposal. They also enjoyed a whole day of adventures all over Teotihuacan... still no proposal. Drew certainly knew how to keep the element of surprise alive! Then at the end of a magical day with Itzel's family, in a candle lit cave restaurant, as Itzel set her way up a staircase to lay a candle with a heart felt intention, Drew popped the question with tears in his eyes and the whole restaurant cheered!
