How We Met

It all started on Fiesta Friday...

Fiesta… San Antonio’s largest party, filled with two solid weeks of cultural celebrations, food, booze and shenanigans! For anyone who knows our newlyweds-to-be, there’s no better backdrop one could dream up for their clandestine meeting. The fateful day was Battle of the Flowers Day, the apex celebratory day of Fiesta and a favorite for both Robert and Bobby and their friends. Jennifer Daffinee, the matchmaker in this love story, knew this would be the perfect opportunity to introduce her two friends, who she had long had a hunch that they’d be a great match for one another. Putting her hunch to the test, she orchestrated their meeting by concocting a recipe for love consisting of a dash of intuition, a dose of perfect timing, a pinch of random luck, a generous pour of booze, and an overdose of Fiesta magic! Their connection was instant, and Robert and Bobby have been inseparable from that day forward. As if Fiesta wasn’t awesome enough already, they now have one more reason to celebrate it each year!

The Proposal

London Proudly Presents: A Tale of Two Roberts...

In the format of David Letterman’s “Top 10” Countdown, here are the best highlights of the McGee-Farias engagement. We’ll let you use your imagination on who the characters in each situation are, lol. 10. Buying the engagement ring after day-drinking with your mom is a hilarious process! 9. Your mom asking for a refill of champagne at Tiffany’s during the ring-buying process shows that there are no boundaries to a true Sunday Funday. 8. Planning an international proposal in a country you’ve never been to is way harder than it sounds. 7. Smuggling a Tiffany Blue ring box halfway around the world when you have a boyfriend who notices the smallest of details is not easy. However, hiding that box in a 250 square foot flat the two of you are sharing for the week takes true talent. 6. Having your original flight to London cancelled the morning of your trip is not how you want to start off a surprise engagement getaway! An unexpected rerouting and pit stop in Paris, however, kind of makes up for it. 5. Having your original venue for the proposal cancel your reservation on you two days beforehand is a stress-level one should never have to feel! 4. Finding a last-minute posh downtown London proposal venue for dinner involves more wheeling and dealing than an interview for a used car salesman job. 3. Dropping the ring box before it is even presented is not smooth… Discreetly retrieving it from under your dining table in a crowded restaurant without your other half or anyone else noticing, however, is super smooth! 2. Fumbling through a proposal that sounded perfect in your head, but once said allowed sounds more like a break-up, is not advised. Lesson learned: Always practice important speeches aloud before delivering them. 1. Despite all of these nearly impossible obstacles, the proposal finally happened and he said yes! In retrospect, it was absolutely perfect… and gave us one heck of a story to tell.
