We met on a Christian dating app called Upward and after pleasantries on the app, we decided to meet for the first time at a Korean BBQ restaurant. The date went well and we decided to follow it up shortly after - with what we consider to be the real hook, line, and sinker - a church date.
After what seemed to be a long time coming and nearly a year from the start of our relationship, the feelings of taking our relationship to the next step was mutual. Initially I expected to propose around Christmas time, but it didn’t feel like the right time until a few days after when we decided to celebrate New Year’s Eve by going to a dance hall. I had the ring on me and the plan was to propose there at the dance hall. However, something felt off about doing it there so I waited until we had finished a few drinks and headed home to watch the ball drop in New York on TV. Despite being in a different time zone I decided that no matter what the time was, it was the time to take the step in our journey to a life of fullness and togetherness. I proposed at home, just the two of us, right as the ball dropped.
