During freshman preseason, my friends and I decided to look up everyone on our hall who hadn't moved in yet. When I added this girl from Delray Beach, FL on Facebook, I thought to myself, "she's really cute, I'll have try to talk to her." Shortly after, we met hanging out on the hall. After talking for a couple weeks, I asked Ally if she would like to get dinner sometime. She said yes, and we agreed to go on October 5, 2013. The tricky part about October 5th was that I had a game in Ohio at 1pm. Fortunately, I was on the first plane back, and made it just in time. We went to a local restaurant, Brick House, and after dinner, we went back to campus and relaxed on chairs outside of the dorm. We ended up talking the whole night away! Over fall break, I decided to ask Ally to be official: to be my girlfriend. I wasn't totally sure how to do so, but I knew I wanted it to be special, and I knew she liked fall. I wrote "Will you go out with me" on pumpkins and put them on her desk for when she got back to Davidson. 4 years later, we went out for Ally's 22nd birthday at Brick House, because I "wanted to take Ally there one last time before we graduated". At dinner, we serendipitously sat in the exact same booth that we sat at on our first date! After dinner, we went to the Davidson art gallery. Little did she know, this was a diversion. Next, we walked around campus, talking and enjoying each others company. We were headed to the labyrinth, a small garden path we often ended our dates at. When we arrived, there were tea candles and flower petals on the path. We walked down the candlelit path; both of our hearts going a million miles a minute. As we made it to the middle of the labyrinth, I stopped Ally and pulled out a birthday card. She began reading and I had to help her figure out the puzzle. The first letter of each line spelled out "Will You Marry Me?." She looked up from the card, and I was down on one knee.
