Issy and Steve’s meet-cute is a tale as old as time… Tinder, Tender Greens, shooting zombies, a megalodon and the Museum of Death in Hollywood. A mix of bizarre and adventurous dates helped solidify the bond between a 22-year-old woman with a flair for apocalyptic art and a developmentally stunted 33-year-old man who had been preparing most of his life for an apocalyptic scenario. Issy had traveled from the great state of Washington to the city of angels to explore a life and career in who knows what… Steve had moved from Illinois, to make a new start after leaving his former life as a firefighter/paramedic and volunteer stripper for #makeawishfoundation. The two fell in love after about a total of five weeks, acknowledging this love for the first time out loud after a trip to Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights. Who knew being chased out of a theme park by a masked man with a chain saw could help you realize true love? Over the next two years, Steve and Issy would trade off going to each other’s apartments, finding as much time as possible to spend with one another. After realizing it was just too hard to be apart, they decided to move in together…three months after Covid lockdowns began!!! Nothing like going from missing each other so much during the week to spending every waking moment together to test their love! On top of that, Issy decided to change careers from a regular 9-5 in the entertainment industry to hustling a tattoo apprenticeship, often working 6 days a week for anywhere from 8-12 hours a day depending on how much cocaine her tattoo mentor had decided to snort that day. Steve also decided he needed to take it easy and took on a new role serving the skid row community in downtown Los Angeles. Needless to say the two have survived a lot together. Through it all, one thing remained constant, the couple’s support for one another never faltered. When Steve decided to drop everything and run an ultramarathon or add a new workout program… Issy always just says “I think you should do what makes you happy”. When Issy decides she needs to work weekends for the busy crowd in the tattoo industry, Steve might complain a little but only because he misses his favorite person. The last piece of this little love story that brings us to the wedding is their out-of-wedlock child. The child- smelly, one-eyed and drooling, is their pride and joy: Duke of Earl Grey the Pirate Dog! Steve and Issy finally decided to start a family and adopted the love of their life! Although they are so happy in the little triumvirate, they know that Duke can never really be accepted as their son under staunch American and Christian values, at least not until his parents are wed. Thus we have arrived. The three are inseparable as it is, but it will mean the world for Steve and Issy to finally make it official! And lil Duke can finally be part of a real family!
