The goal was to get Simone out of the house the first weekend of 2025. She thought she was going to a winter soiree with one of her best friends. Once she was gone, her other two best friends came over to help put up balloons that said 'Marry Me' and lay down rows of tea-light candles with rose petals spread between them. Simone's mom also made a surprise visit to capture the moment her daughter's life would change for forever. About an hour after Simone left, her best friend had to act like she left something at our house and came back. Once Simone walked through the front door she immediately cried with joy while Bruno Mars' song "Marry You" played in the background. I asked her "If that was a yes" and in between sobs Simone agreed to marry me.
