Isom and I met at a welcome week orientation group when we were both freshmen at Bridgewater College. Asking about classes quickly turned into a conversation that kept going long after the event ended. From there, it became walks around campus, late-night talks in the science building lounge, cafeteria lunches that lasted way too long, and rigorous study sessions. Looking back, it’s funny to think how something as random as where we sat or which activity we chose led to something so meaningful.

After getting home from a nice steakhouse, I opened an album that just arrived in the mail and put it on the record player. When I turn around I saw that he was on one knee and asking me to marry him. With candles lit and fresh flowers in the living room vases, it was a perfectly beautiful proposal! I didn't even see the ring when I said yes, but I did make sure to ask if he asked the dads for permission! The ring he chose for me was from an antique jewler in our town called James McHone's Jewlery, where most all of the women in our family had gotten their wedding rings from!

Our wedding ceremony and reception will be done at my family farm in Harrisonburg, VA. It has always been a dream of mine to get married on the ground I grew up on with the people who made my life so wonderful. Once we get married, we plan to buy some of the land on the farm to build a house of our own! Our engagement photos were taken in the field we plan to buy!
