Our Story

Joe and Isobel met on Hinge and went on their first date at the Riptide. More importantly, they have 4 cats together. These are their stories
Fillmore (Filly)

Fillmore (Filly)

Fillmore, our first born, was adopted by Isobel in January of 2022. He was 3 months old and less than 2 hours post-amputation of his front left leg, but he was still the sweetest cat. Isobel nearly left the shelter because he was not yet available for adoption. Luckily she stuck around for a few extra minutes before leaving and he suddenly became available, and she adopted him on the spot! Fillmore was named after the historic Fillmore neighborhood in San Francisco. Like most orange cats, he only has one brain cell that he shares with all other orange cats. His favorite person in the world is Isobel, but he has learned to benignly tolerate Joe (a big step!). He enjoys breaking into the automatic cat feeders, meow complaining, and sitting as close to Isobel's face as humanly possible.

Ladybird (Birdie)

Ladybird (Birdie)

Birdie was adopted in April of 2022 after Filly started biting Isobel because he had single kitten syndrome and needed a friend. Isobel spotted Birdie at the SPCA and when she nuzzled her face against the glass just like Filly had, she knew she had to bring her home. Birdie was named after Ladybird, set in Northern California and Isobel's favorite film of all time. Birdie is the sweetest of all of our cats and loves everyone she meets. She was a street cat in Fresno for 2 years before she was adopted, and she still retains some of her street cat habits (like stealing human food). She also has lots of dental problems from an infection she picked up on the mean streets of Fresno, so she only has approximately 5 teeth left. She loves stealing heat from the heater, chirping like a bird, and following the sun from east to west during the day throughout the apartment.

Golden (Goldie)

Golden (Goldie)

Goldie was adopted by both Isobel and Joe in September of 2024, just 2 weeks before they got engaged. Best engagement present ever! Golden (Goldie) was named after the famous Golden Gate Bridge. Goldie has the soul of a Middle Eastern dictator trapped inside a large fluffy cat's body. Shortly after we brought her home, she promptly began peeing on every surface of our home that smelled like us, which we later learned was from anxiety. Once we got her on Prozac the peeing stopped immediately. We love an SSRI girlie. Since then she has found new and inventive ways to commit household crimes, including but not limited to hitting her siblings unprovoked and for no reason, chewing all of Joe's shoelaces (but never Isobel's), trying (and sometimes succeeding) to eat human foods that could kill her, and screaming at any minor inconvenience. We are both in awe of her capacity to commit atrocities and impressed by her sheer dedication to chaos. Additionally, her face card never declines.

Eddy

Eddy

Eddy was adopted in September of 2025 on a whim after several drinks and watching one too many cute black cat videos. When we adopted him the adoption counselor informed us that we were now at the legal limit for the number of animals one household can own in San Francisco. It's giving overachievers! Eddy was named after Eddy Street in San Francisco where Isobel had an apartment when she met Joe. Eddy is a typical boy cat who loves his bed and his mama, and he's not sorry. He was separated from his mother at an early age so he tends to try to suckle on his siblings (yes, even Filly). He enjoys terrorizing his siblings (mainly Birdie), feather toys, and competing with Filly for the prime spot on Isobel's lap.
