How We Met

5.12.18

We swiped right, now over 5 years later we're getting married! We met on Tinder back in the Spring of 2018 right before Jac's 21st birthday. After stalking each other on Instagram, we started texting and Facetiming about every day. I (Jac) finally agreed to go on a first date with Izzy to go get sushi right after CT had experienced a random hurricane. Branches were down, streets were closed, but nevertheless, I made my way to the sushi restaurant to meet Izzy. We shared our favorite sushi rolls with each other before Ismail choked on some wasabi and made the date serious. He was fine, I just thought my jokes were too much for him at the time but turns out it wasn't me, it was the wasabi! Anyways we went to Baskin Robbins for some mint ice cream afterwards and then Izzy drove me back to my car while playing Electric Love by Borns for me (before they got famous). Looking back on it, I knew it was true love because he split mint ice cream with me and that's his least favorite flavor of all time. Anyways, the next date was at Walnut Beach and Izzy surprised me with pizza and music and we took our first picture together while watching the sunset. It was the perfect ending to the perfect date honestly. After that, the third date was at Ferris Acres Creamery where I showed Izzy some of the best ice cream of his life. Later that evening, on 5/21/23, he asked me to be his girlfriend and I was so nervous I had to turn around with my back towards him to say yes because I was so giddy. That was 5 short years ago, and every day since has been such an incredible experience and journey together.

The Proposal

5.12.23

Midway through our epic Italian vacation, we made our way from Florence to Rome to explore the eternal city for a few days. We started the day walking around the Trevi Fountain, and obviously threw a few Euro in there for our dreams to come true. Then we made our way to the Spanish Steps to see the view from the top. We grabbed some pasta and gelato on the way back to the hotel to freshen up for dinner later that evening. Oh, and of course Jac had to try a cannoli before heading back! We set out for dinner in our Uber and enjoyed some amazing pasta in this little hole in the wall restaurant off the beaten path just past the fountain. Afterwards we walked to the Trevi Fountain to see it lit up at night time and just embraced the Italian nightlife before heading back to the hotel (plan D). Izzy requested some champagne to the hotel rooftop as we reminisced about our vacation so far and how beautiful the city looked at night. All of a sudden, I (Jac) was asking Izzy a question and got annoyed that he wasn't answering me. So as I turned around to see what was going on, there he was down on one knee asking me to be his wife. Now here we are ready to spend the rest of eternity together after getting engaged in the eternal city!
