Travel Note

Welcome To The Islands!

Welcome to one of the great hidden treasures of the United States! We know that for many of our guests, this is their first time to the U.S. Virgin Islands. Upon arriving there are some helpful hints and tips to know.. 1) It's "Island Time" - that hectic schedule that exists in the states sometimes arrives with visitors, but the rest of the island isn't paying attention...they are enjoying every moment of life and soaking it all in at their own pace. This is Island Time and it sometimes requires some adjustment. 2) To help with #1, there is free rum at St. Thomas airport. 3) The USVI is "left-handed" this means that the cars drive on the left side of the road...and the driver is still on the left side of the car (unlike in the UK or other countries). If you rent a car, Do Not Drive On The Right. 4) Speaking of cars...they get a little beat up on the islands, adjust your expectations accordingly. 5) Ferries, are quite common, very safe, and needed to get from St. Thomas to St. John.

House Or Rental

Wedding Party Villa - Stone Post Estate

Cruz Bay, St John 00830, U.S. Virgin Islands
 +1 800-727-6610

Travis, Amy and most of the wedding party will be staying at Stone Post Estate - a villa in Chocolate Hole. If staying on St. John, you will want to find something on the CRUZ BAY side of the island, that's the west end. That is where all of the best beaches, restaurants, hotels/accommodations etc., and where our villa is. If staying on St. Thomas, you should look for something on the east end so you can easily catch the ferry to St. John for all the festivities.

Flight

Cyril E. King Airport

You will fly in to St. Thomas, which is a US Territory. If you're coming from the US, you do NOT need a passport!! There are many direct flights from the east coast, and many easy connectors from Midwest and West Coast. We have flown to the USVI from Philly, Denver, San Francisco and Arizona -- reach out with any questions!

Travel Note

Ferry from St. Thomas to St. John

You will fly in to St. Thomas airport, which means you will need to ferry over to St. John. Once you have your luggage at the airport, step outside to passenger pickup and hail a taxi or shuttle to the Red Hook Ferry. Taxi prices vary, but expect to pay at least $15 per person. You will want to take the ferry route between Red Hook and Cruz Bay on St. John. That trip costs about $8 one way, takes approximately 20 minutes and runs hourly between 6:00 am and Midnight.

Privately Owned Villa Rentals

Book directly with Villa Owners and save a few bucks on rental fees! Obviously make sure you do your research for cancellation policies that cover COVID, Hurricanes, etc. When looking on this website, you will want to search in/around Cruz Bay and Chocolate Hole areas.

Hotel

The Westin St. John Resort Villas

Cruz Bay, St John 00830, U.S. Virgin Islands
 +1 340-693-8000

We highly recommend The Westin for accommodations on St. John. While the prices are top-tier, you cannot beat the ease and conveniences of staying here. It is centrally located to town, beaches and Amy and Trav's villa. They offer free shuttles, a few beautiful pools, complimentary kayaks and paddle boards, a private beach and food and beverage onsite. They also offer round trip taxi/ferry transportation to and from the airport for a fee. Many Westin villas are privately owned and you can get a better deal by booking through an owner or 3rd party coordinator rather than the direct website. Reach out to Amy if you'd like to look in to this option.

House Or Rental

Airbnb

St. John is limited when it comes to hotels, and accommodations mostly include rental houses. Airbnb is a great way to find a rental that suits you and your family needs. Just keep in mind that we're staying on the west end of the island, right near Cruz Bay. That's where the festivities will be, including easy access to beaches, bars, restaurants and excursions.

Hotel

Bolongo Bay

St Thomas 00802, U.S. Virgin Islands

This resort is on St. Thomas, which is a short ferry ride over to St. John. We do not have a room block here, but this resort is a good budget friendly option for couples or families that might be looking for an all-inclusive stay. We stayed near by when we got engaged and loved coming to the swim-up bar and private beach at Bolongo Bay. The resort is conveniently located about 15-20 minutes from Red Hook, a cute town with lots of shops and restaurants, and the ferry for St. John.
