We have tried answering some possible questions you guys might have here. If you have additional questions, reach out to us at sathyaphilips2012@gmail.com
Question

What is the dress code?

Answer

Attire is vacation cocktail! Think festive boho vibe with a dash of indian glam! The weather is supposed to be warm/ pleasant during that time of year. Western formal wear, Indian formal wear, or something in between. Yes, you can wear black! Yes, you can wear white! You can wear any color you like! :) Examples for guys: Slacks and a blazer or a suit (tie not required), kurta, sherwani. Examples for gals: Summer cocktail dress, gown, romper, black dress, sari, lehenga, salwar kameez. This isn't a traditional south indian wedding, so no need for a traditional silk saree. (No shorts please) The event is going to be outdoors (and there will be lots of dancing!), so keep that in mind when selecting your shoes. (No flip flops please)

Question

Can I take pictures during the Ceremony?

Answer

We would love for this to be an "Unplugged Wedding". In an era consumed by phones and technology, we would love everyone to be completely present for the ceremony. We would like to kindly request that guests don't take any photos or videos during the ceremony. As much as we love that you guys are as stoked as us to capture our big day, guests having their phones out end up causing the professional photos to show little phones all around, rather than capturing your smiling faces. Suraj and I have picked the most exceptional photographers and videographers, and we promise to share pictures via email as soon as we get them. :)

Question

May I bring a guest even if they are not noted on my invitation?

Answer

If your invitation says “and Guest,” then yes, if not, we would prefer if it was just you.

Question

Are kids invited?

Answer

This is a tricky one. We love your kids—we really do. But we want our wedding to be your night off! Leave the littles at home if possible. That being said, we get that it's a weekend all the way in Mexico, and you may not be able to leave the little ones behind. We have accounted for kids on the invites, so just go with your gut on this one.

Question

I would love to wear Indian attire, where can I find Indian clothes?

Answer

Feel free to wear whatever you like, Indian attire is not mandatory. :) Although Suraj and I are of Indian descent, our wedding is fusion, to celebrate our own multi-cultural upbringings. We have incorporated Indian attire into our wedding as an ode to our Indian heritage. If you would like to wear Indian clothes, we would be beyond excited to see our non-indian friends join in on the fun and celebrate our colorful heritage with us by dressing up! :) For anyone interested in renting Indian clothes to wear to the wedding, check out Riya Collective. You can visit the showroom in the Mission (SF) and try on the outfits before renting. Otherwise, they ship nationwide. Women's outfits rent for $75-$125; men's for $50-$75. Use the URL provided for $20 off your rental: http://riyacollective.refr.cc/ishasathya

Question

Where is the actual wedding?

Answer

The wedding is at a beautiful outdoor event space called ACRE, a 25 acre piece of farmland adjacent to San Jose del Cabo and located 25 minutes from the airport. If you are interested in staying at Acre, they have "glamping" style treehouses you can rent.

Question

What's the weather going to be like?

Answer

We're anticipating low to mid 80s with mild humidity! (Praying global warming doesn't mess with us!)

Question

Do you guys have a registry?

Answer

The fact that our beloved friends and family are making the effort to travel all the way out to Mexico to attend the most important day of our lives is gift enough! Currently we reside in a teeny tiny little apartment in San Francisco, so it totally wouldn't make sense for us to create a traditional registry. So we created a "Home Fund", which we would use when we settle into our future home. If you wish to contribute, check out our registry page, we appreciate it :)

For all the days along the way
