Question

I'm new to Indian wedding attire. What should I wear?

Answer

We’re so excited you’re celebrating with us! Indian wedding attire is vibrant, elegant, and festive and you absolutely don’t need to be Indian to participate. Here’s a simple guide to traditional and modern options: For Women: Salwar Kameez – A tunic-style top paired with loose pants and a coordinating scarf (dupatta). Sari – A long, draped fabric worn over a blouse and skirt. Lehenga – A two- or three-piece set with a blouse, full skirt, and often a dupatta. Anarkali – A long, flowing, one-piece gown with a fitted bodice and flared skirt. Sharara / Gharara – A fitted top paired with dramatic, wide-legged flared pants. You’re also welcome to explore more modern or fusion styles — think embellished jumpsuits, sari gowns, cape dupattas, or contemporary Indo-Western sets. Have fun with it! For Men: Kurta Pajama – A long tunic (kurta) worn over slim trousers. Often paired with a vest. Sherwani – A structured, knee-length formal coat worn over trousers. If you’re unsure, feel free to reach out — we’re happy to help! And of course, Western semi-formal attire is always welcome.

Question

Is there any color I should avoid wearing?

Answer

Short answer - no! Long answer, please wear whatever styles or colors you feel beautiful in. Traditional bridal attire for Indian weddings tend to be red and gold, which both brides will be adorned in. We welcome you to match our palette or contrast with us, whatever you please.
