Flight
LAX is of course the largest and most common point of airborne entry into Los Angeles. It is also the home of the UFO-shaped Encounter Restaurant. Burbank Airport, however, is closer to the Symposium and, despite offering fewer, somewhat more expensive flight options, promises a less preposterously-awful travel experience. It's worth a look. From either airport, Lyft or Uber are the most affordable and convenient ground-transportation options. At LAX, cars pick up arriving passengers upstairs at the DEPARTURES level. Your app will guide you through the rest.
Hotel
We have reserved a block of rooms for out of town ISGMM attendees at the Doubletree DTLA. It is nearby all event locations, and situated at the edge of Little Tokyo, a short walk from the best green-tea-flavored soft- serve ice cream in the US: Tea Master (https://www.yelp.com/biz/tea-master-matcha-cafe-and-green-tea-shop-los-angeles).
Rental Car
You may have heard that Los Angeles has a lot of traffic. Feel free to rent a car for exploring Los Angeles, but be aware that all ISGMM events and many of our favorite attractions are clustered within a relatively short radius, easily accessible either on foot or via rideshare services like Lyft or Uber. If for some reason you love the west side, hey. Do your thing.
