Isavel & Mark met on a dating app called Bumble, the Spring of 2017. They agreed to meet for coffee on a Wednesday afternoon at Jaho in Downtown Boston on the 22nd of March of 2017. Their chemistry was unmistakable and after five hours (!!) of conversation and laughter, they were kicked out of the coffee shop as it was closing. Time flew by and they enjoyed each other’s company so much, they scheduled their next date that same night! As they got to know each other that first month, they shared many amazing memories including Isavel introducing Mark to Salvadorian food, meeting Mark’s friends on the third date at an arcade bar in Cambridge, admiring the sunset on the Charles river esplanade, attending Isavel’s sorority formal, and a live caricature session at Clover in which Mark drew perhaps the most inaccurate depiction of Isavel imaginable…all in all, they became inseparable. However, the elephant in the room loomed - Isavel would soon be leaving Boston to participate in a summer study abroad program in Madrid and Mark was set to start medical school during the late summer. The young couple had to make a decision about the future of their relationship early on. On the 7th of May, after brunch at a picture perfect booth at Rosebud Diner in Davis Square, they made it official. They chose to see things through and decided to try their best to make their relationship work despite the distance. As fate would have it, Mark was sent on a work trip to Cambridge so they were able to spend a weekend together in London. To add to their luck, Isavel won a raffle ticket for a round-trip flight from Boston to Europe and decided to gift it to Mark. They spent an unforgettable summer together, traveling to London, Lisbon, Madrid, Croatia and Italy. Their travels only made them grow closer and closer with every new adventure. Their appreciation for travel, food, culture and laughter has been the strongest foundation for the friendship and love they share for each other. As they take the next step, they hope to continue to prioritize these values.
