They say all it takes is a spark to ignite a flame. As an electrician, Isaiah’s goal each day is to avoid sparks, open flames, untamed currents and live wires. Yet, oddly enough, his love story with Leah involves bonfires, hurricanes, open flames, and a high-voltage connection. Leah and Isaiah’s story starts long before sparks flew. Every good electrician knows they need a plan when wiring a house. The Lord had a plan in Isaiah’s life. His first step in love was installing the main electrical panel—the central hub where electricity from the utility company enters the home. Isaiah’s central hub was installed in February 2024 when he was saved by God’s grace. The ultimate source of Love was wired into his heart, and Christ has been his main circuit board ever since. There’s peace and confidence that empower a man when he knows he’s loved. And the good Lord knew Isaiah would need these currents of grace when he met Leah. Though in the same electrical orbit through church and events, they hadn’t noticed each other. It wasn’t until a ministry dinner that they actually spoke. As the only female at the table, Leah tried to spur conversation by asking everyone’s “high” and “low” for the day. Isaiah thought his “high” was that work went well, but in hindsight, that dinner was the “high.” It was the first of many connections he’d form with Leah, until their hearts were fully wired. While Leah and Isaiah were still unaware of the connection they were forming, the rest of Tampa braced for Hurricane Milton. The day after Milton, Isaiah met with Pastor Jake to hand out food to nearby residents. Leah and her friends, Rachel and Karinna, joined them and went door to door serving hurricane victims. Amid their service, Leah questioned Isaiah’s focus that day, since more than half a million homes were without power. As an electrician, she thought his time might’ve been better spent getting power back up. Isaiah used the moment to explain the flow of power. First Tampa Electric Company had to reconnect the lines, then he would inspect and ensure proper electrical delivery within the homes. If disconnected from the source, no work inside mattered—much like humanity’s love story with God. A week later, they attended a bonfire hosted by The Creek. Like moths to a flame, they were drawn to each other. Near the bonfire, they compared marshmallow roasting skills. They caught a glimpse of each other’s humor, which sparked attraction. Some sparks cause an immediate flame, but Isaiah and Leah needed a few catalysts. Thankfully, they had friends like Rachel, Nick, Aaron and Karinna who created opportunities that fostered their relationship. From little hints Rachel and Nick dropped, to a first dance at Aaron and Karinna’s wedding, these all served as catalysts that energized everything and led to their first date. One Sunday in early November, Leah looked for ways to engage Isaiah at church. He had gone with Nick to let Leah’s roommate’s dog, Tilly, out earlier that week. She used sweet Tilly as an excuse to talk to him. He wanted to ask her out, but both were interrupted and soon found themselves headed home alone. Leah called friends to talk about her feelings for Isaiah; Isaiah did the same with his dad and stepbrother. The consensus was they should take a chance. Isaiah made the first move and called Leah. He asked her out that day, and 20 minutes later they met at Fresh Kitchen. Neither ate much, but both realized they had a special connection. On their second date, they talked about deeper things—their beliefs, dreams and spiritual journeys. These omni-channel, invisible cables have resulted in a powerful bond of love that no one could have wired except God alone.
