FAQs

Question

What is appropriate to wear to a Catholic Church?

Answer

When visiting a Catholic church, it’s best to dress in a way that shows respect for the sacred space. You don’t need to wear anything overly formal, but modest, neat clothing is appropriate. Avoid very short skirts, shorts, super low-cut tops, anything too tight or revealing, or anything with inappropriate language. A simple dress, slacks, or a skirt with a modest top or sweater is perfectly suitable. Overall, aim for respectful, modest, and tidy clothing. The goal isn’t strict formality - just a thoughtful acknowledgment that you’re entering a place of worship.

Question

What can I expect at a Catholic Wedding?

Answer

We will not be having a full Mass, so the ceremony will focus on the marriage rite itself rather than the full Eucharistic liturgy. You can expect opening prayers, Scripture readings, a brief homily, and the exchange of vows and rings, followed by a final blessing. Because there is no Communion for the congregation, the ceremony is simpler and typically lasts about 30–45 minutes. Guests will stand and sit at certain points, but there is usually no kneeling. Overall, the atmosphere will be reverent, faith-focused, and centered on the couple’s commitment to one another.

Question

Is parking at the church free?

Answer

The church parking lot will be free. Space is tight and the parking lot is awkward (with some spaces trapping cars in), so please be patient when parking and exiting. You may have to communicate with other guests parked in front/behind you when entering/leaving. If you live in the Nashville area, we recommend trying to carpool to keep spaces as open as possible for out of town guests.

Question

What can I expect at the reception?

Answer

The reception will be a more casual celebration focused on community, joy, and celebrating the couple. While there won’t be formal place settings or a traditional plated meal, chairs will be available, and a cafeteria-style area will be open for anyone who prefers to sit at a table while eating. We’ll be serving Waldo's Chicken with a variety of sides, desserts, and drinks. The atmosphere is meant to be relaxed and welcoming—an opportunity for everyone to mingle, enjoy good food, and share in the happiness of the newlyweds.

Question

Why won't there be alcohol at the reception?

Answer

We won’t be serving alcohol at the reception because the venue does not allow it on the premises, and we also want to keep the focus on being present with one another—enjoying conversation, dancing, and celebrating together in a fun, relaxed atmosphere. The reception ends at 7 PM, which is still early enough for anyone who’d like to continue the night out and explore some of the great Nashville bars afterward. And of course, guests are under no obligation to stay for the full reception—feel free to come and go as needed!
