I had just left my job of three years in Charlottesville, VA when I made the decision to start travel nursing in September 2019. My first stop was in Raleigh, NC and at this time Jack was stationed at Fort Bragg, NC just an hour away. We were both at a time in our lives where finding a serious partner was a priority and after two short weeks in Raleigh, we connected on the dating app Hinge. This quickly led to a first date on October 6th, 2019, at a brewery in Raleigh. Unknown to me, Jack had previously planned on running his first marathon race scheduled that day and ended up finishing the race, rinsing off in a public restroom at the finish line, changing, and driving to meet me (if you know Jack, this should come as no surprise that he would run a marathon and go on a first date directly after). Our connection was strong on the first date and we began talking daily and driving the hour most weekends to see each other. Within a month, we were officially dating and eventually when my time in NC came to an end, we decided to continue our relationship long distance so that I could continue my travel nursing career. We continued to date long distance for two and half years, oftentimes making long drives and booking plane tickets just to spend a weekend together. We faced a lot of challenges including Jack being deployed for six months with the military as well as the obstacles of COVID. Fast forward to December 27, 2021, we spent a weekend in Joshua Tree, California. We were enjoying the sunset in the desert of Joshua Tree with barely anyone around when Jack got down on one knee and proposed. I was in a state of shock, not knowing what to do or how to act in the moment, but I was so sure of my answer that I didn't even wait a second to respond with "YES!". It was a perfect and intimate proposal. Shortly after the engagement, I moved to Salt Lake City, UT, where Jack had recently moved to start his career as a firefighter so that we could start planning our life together! If you know anything about Jack and me, then you know how simple and modest we like to live. Because of this, we have made the decision to have a very small and intimate wedding in Salt Lake City with our immediate families. This was a difficult decision to make, but we both agreed that this is exactly how we envisioned our wedding day. We will be offering a livestream of the wedding ceremony so that all our friends and family can still be a part of our special day. We are so excited for this next chapter of our lives together and are extremely thankful for all the love and support we have received. Details to come for the livestream will be located under the FAQS tab.
