How We Met - July 9, 2015

What happened in Vegas, just couldn't stay in Vegas

I met Isabell on one of my annual trips to Las Vegas, a tradition I decided to start when I turned 21. This particular trip was a "one year after" college reunion with most of the crew. Three of us arrived a day early and wanted to go on the same club crawl we enjoyed in 2014. It started out at the Cromwell hotel where our host made us aware of a group of young ladies celebrating a 21st birthday. I originally wanted to stay away from all that attention but that didn't last long. We went up to Drai's nightclub when I noticed an older man talking to the group of younger ladies and they looked slightly uncomfortable. I immediately approached the group and introduced myself. That's when I noticed the birthday girl and she looked absolutely beautiful. I immediately wanted to buy her a drink but was reminded quickly by my friends that it was too early of a move especially since we got free beverages on the party bus between stops. It wasn't until we reached the second club where I just had to offer a round for Isabell and her friends. After I gave Isabell her drink I couldn't believe how appreciative and thankful she was. At first I thought it was a little odd for her to be so thankful for such a small gesture but I later realized how genuine she really is. The rest of the night we stayed together and had an absolute blast on the Vegas strip. At the end of the tour we went out for a bite before her and her two friends hopped on a bus back to downtown Las Vegas. It wasn't until the next morning that I realized I had lost my ID which gave me a legitimate excuse to contact Isabell right away to help me track it down. Two days after returning home I decided this person was too special to "leave" in Vegas. Little did I know she would end up becoming the love of my life and future wife!

The Proposal

February 2nd, 2019

Zach had planned a staycation to "celebrate his birthday" at the Historic Hotel Del Coronado. He landed an ocean front suite with a balcony over looking the beach. Unfortunately, the weather was stormy and rainy which is pretty unusual for San Diego and we didn't get to see the sunset we were hoping for. That didn't stop him from surprising me later that night. After taking some pre-dinner photos in the room, we went downstairs to order a bite to-go for our version of a "room service" style night in. As we waited for our food, we ordered a couple of cocktails at the Babcock and Story Bar and shortly after, Zach excused himself to the restroom. Little did I know he took this time to begin executing his long anticipated plan for the set up of the proposal. Eventually he returned, we signed for our drinks and takeout, and headed back up to the room. Zach ran a little ahead of me down the hall saying he had to "check something" before I came in. I had no idea what he was doing as he put in the final touches and made sure everything would be perfect. It was. When he finally opened the door for me I noticed our favorite song playing in the background and saw that he had layed a rose petal trail leading up to the balcony. There, he had hung a string of Edison light bulbs around the door frame with the balcony door pulled open. He grabbed my hands and said "let's do this". I was still unsure about what was happening until we reached the end of the trail and he began speaking to me. I couldn't even comprehend a word he said as I was in shock about my realization. Then, it came time, he got down on one knee and he asked me to marry him. Of course I said YES!
