We first met on our first day as Teach For America corps members in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. We were placed in the same transition team and sat next to each other during the training's opening dinner at the Dunn Center on the campus of North Carolina Wesleyan College. As they say, the rest is history!

Through coordination of an elaborate cover-up, we returned to Rocky Mount from our new home in Durham, NC and Darren proposed in front of the same building where we first met.
